BNS Wins Inspire '08 Award

On April 18 Brand New School was awarded an Inspire '08 Award from the Savannah College of Art and Design for the Best Interactive Motion Graphics in 2007. The kudos were given for the Adobe Interactive Mural Installation that we, here in NY, produced in March of 2007. If you are unfamiliar with the project, it can be viewed on the website or by clicking the link below:

Along with the award ceremony, a series of lectures was given by various industry colleagues including: Psyop, PES, Digital Kitchen, Troika and Brand New School. Eric and I were also given the opportunity to present on behalf of BNS. We discussed interactive motion graphics, as it pertained to the Adobe installation, in front of approximately 800 people. It was refreshing to see how much influence some of our work can have, especially on students. Being attached to a project for a month can jade your perspective on how interesting it might be to someone viewing it with fresh eyes. Discussing the creative and technical process before, during and after the presentation gave me a fresh perspective on the job. It also aided me in rediscovering the interesting facets of the job, which were the driving force behind our initial decision to work on it.
Interactive work appears to be gaining momentum in an effort to deviate from the traditional "in your face" advertising. At an agency screening last week, we showed our montage and several other spots and the Adobe piece was the topic of a majority of the questions and comments. In the future, I would expect to see BNS getting involved in more interactive productions, which is great because they lend themselves to new thinking and creative solutions.
